...submissions...

STUDiO 1 is currently accepting submissions packages.
Before you read on, let me be plain on a couple of points:
-
We are an independent company, funded by one poor comic-book fan / slash / disabled Veteran.
-
We are already very lucky to have the top-level talent working with us that we do. Following that logic, that's where our production budget goes each month.
-
Therefore, we cannot offer page rates to any prospective writers, artists, inkers, letters, or colorists. At this point, all submissions need to be sent with the knowledge that, if accepted and put to work, payment can/will only be rendered as a negotiable percentage of net profit on your project.
-
On the brighter side, we can put you to work immediately.
-
We are specifically looking for individuals who are interested in working on our already-established project lineup. However, we will consider handling the publishing chores for your project if it comes to us in a complete or 'near-complete' format ('near complete' being defined as written, pencilled, and inked). We always work within the confines of a specific contract; this guarantees your rights and the rights of the company.
-
All of us here at STUDiO 1 got our start in the industry by working independently (where many opportunities still exist for both personal and professional success). We want to continue the tradition of providing opportunities for struggling writers and artists. This is, currently, the only way we can do that.
-
We are accepting only digital submissions at this time.
-
All submissions should be directed to submissions@ahollowman.com.
WRITERS:
You can submit anything written in the form of a comic-book script. I dont care if it's about Dracula, Smurfs, Wolverine, or bungie jumping. Make it interesting, funny, outrageous, whatever, but be original. I am pretty specific about what I'm looking for in writers, but I have a volume of different projects and each could be handled a completely different way. If our goals and your style fit, we'll absolutely let you know. Please don't submit plot outlines only. Please dont submit entire novels. A good package would include a brief story overview (but don't send scripts with original characters please - it is helpful if we already 'know' a little about the characters), between 5-10 consecutive pages of comic page plotting/scripting (as if it were being delivered to an artist for interpretation), a biography with all contact information, and a schedule of availability.
PENCILLERS:
Submit three to five pages of sequential art. You may also include up to three pin-up/cover-type pieces of artwork. The characters do not have to be our characters for us to make a judgement.
INKERS:
Submit three to five pages of inked comic-book art. You may submit two pin-up/cover-type inked pages, but at least one page must be inked sequential artwork. Make sure and submit copies of the pencils for comparison against the inks. If you need sample pages to ink from, simply submit a request using the email address provided on this page, and we will digitally transmit them to your account.
COLORISTS:
Submit one page of sequential colors and one page of pin-up/cover-type artwork.
LETTERISTS:
Submit up-to five pages of lettered samples. We do not have a particular preference between hand-lettered and computer-lettered work.
